Upgraded from the basic beginner bobbin holder and these are great. Thread moves smoothly through the tube and haven’t felt any catches or snags. Drag is also very smooth and works well. Liked the shorty so much I picked up another one and a standard. Only downside would have to be changing spools is more effort than popping the bobbin out and in.
Love to tie with Rite bobbins. The standard size is light in the hand. The ability to dial in tension makes it easy to use for any type of fly tying. The ceramic tip keeps thread from fraying or breaking. Durable and worth every penny.
Have owned half a dozen bobbins, this is by far the best variable thread-tension model out there. Provides tension range from nearly zero for those delicate size 18 mayfly patterns with super fine thread all the way up to the elevated tension required for 6/0 jungle andino deceiver or big bass hair poppers without spoiling half your thread spool when you crank down. Just bought my second Rite bobbin to facilitate quick swapping between thread and mono for saltwater patterns.
Really enjoy this Rite bobbin. Easy to use
It is a gift, I have b one and they are very good.
