Tf you need to get a fly down quick, you usually try to reduce the footprint of the fly or add weight. With this pattern, we need to do both since this jig streamer style fly is meant to drop fast and put you into contact with the fly quicker, thus helping you to detect strikes quicker and easier. This specific configuration with a size #14 hook and an up-sized jig back gets me the maximum weight for smallest form factor. What that gives us is a very small but quick sinking jig streamer with a lot of movement that the fish seem to just love. Mix up the color combos with this style but it deserves a spot in your box!
