Davie McPhail's CDC Olive Quill Dun
Curtis - February 2022

There is a certain therapeutic aspect of watching/listening to Davie McPhail's YouTube videos but from a pure fishing and tying standpoint, he's got some winners no doubt. When I saw this pattern a number of months ago, I had been messing around with different styles of CDC wings on dry flies. I liked the simplicity of the wing style and as I tied up a few and tried them out, I was surprised at how well it floated. I've now fished them a few times on some hatches around the west here and in Argentina with great success. There's now a couple of rows in my mayfly box dedicated to this style of pattern. Give it a whirl....
