Big Lost River

Flow below Mackay Dam is about 695 cfs which is too dangerous for wading.  This level of flow is scouring the stream bed such that life forms on the riverbed are freed to drift allowing foraging trout to feed. The high flow satisfies irrigation demand as well as provides storage room in the reservoir above for catching run off. Flow at the Leslie gage is about 75 cfs because of irrigation diversion.
