Except for the Harriman section, Catch and Release regulations remain for the rest of the river until the general season opening. Watch for flow to vary in the upper river as we move into irrigation season. Right now in the upper river, water temperatures are ideal for larger trout habitation, but not for development of recently hatched trout.
For top water fishing caddis, BWO, March Browns co-operate. For sure, the big stoneflies are beginning to migrate toward banks. So breakout your favorite stonefly nymph patterns! This section will become more crowded as we advance into giant and golden stonefly seasons. The big stoneflies in the Bear Gulch end of Cardiac Canyon hatch about the same time as those from Warm River down to Ashton, and there are fewer anglers from Bear Gulch upstream to lower Mesa Falls.
