Henry's Fork
It’s been a strange year with respect to the giant and golden stonefly emergences. There are sections of the lower river where their activity was minimized. It has ended on the river below Cardiac Canyon and is peaking in Box Canyon where flow allows good boating conditions but impacts wading. Remember that after a week or so depending on weather trout will have digested their load of salmon flies and will be looking for more. Thus, keep those dry adult patterns in that fly box. The slide below Lower Mesa Falls remains closed to the use of descending hard sided boats but is open for rafts and flotation devices. Especially during afternoon hours, do not overlook presenting caddis life cycle patterns throughout the river. Flow at Box Canyon is about 730 cfs, below Ashton Dam is about 1330 cfs and about 1000 cfs at St. Anthony.
