Henry's Fork

An aquatic insect hatch timing report is posted on Henry’s Fork Foundation’s web site.  How much ahead in time the hatches will occur depends on location on the river. For example, hatches are 17 days ahead at Flat Rock in Island Park and 29 days ahead at St. Anthony.

Fishing between Ashton and Chester Dams is very good with BWO and March brown mayflies, caddisflies, and midges providing responses from trout throughout the water column. Streamer patterns are most effective during low-light and stormy periods. With the early season insect hatches progress giant stonefly nymphs have likely started moving toward banks. That means nymph patterns for these should now be in that fly box.

Flow below Ashton Dam is about 1100 cfs and about the same at St. Anthony.
