Henry's Fork
Flow through Box Canyon is about 1550 cfs (makes for tough wading) and is likely to vary season long. Dry/dropper rigs and streamer patterns work best here as well as on lower Coffee Pot. Right now in the upper river, water temperatures are ideal for trout survival. Green drakes and brown drakes are much diminished. PMDs in increasingly smaller subspecies and flavs are the dominant may flies. Trout are a bit finicky, so long, fine leaders, precise casting, patience, and a gentle approach is required for fishing success. Evening caddis emergences on the entire river provide late in the day action.
Fishing with dry/dropper rigs targeting pocket water is a good approach from Warm River to Ashton. About 2300 cfs is flowing with some discolor in the lower river down to the Chester Dam, so good top water fishing has diminished because of this and that the river is warming. Fewer anglers are here because of the high water and because South Fork fishing is quickly improving.
