Flow through Box Canyon is about 350 cfs. That low is rough on hard sided boat bottoms. Nymphing is best here except for streamer patterns during low light conditions. Last Chance-Harriman reach offers TOUGH fishing with cool, slightly discolored water and abundant aquatic weeds. Evening and early AM spinner falls are happening. With weather cooling, mahogany dun and BWOs will replace them up and down the river. River from Warm River to Ashton Reservoir is cooling and is seeing brown trout beginning to run through to upstream spawning areas. River below Ashton Dam is flowing at around 900 cfs and is offering much improved fishing. Terrestrial insect patterns presented close to vegetated banks during warm, sunny weather produce. Be sure to include flying ant patterns in that fly box. Tiny BWO life cycle patterns produce during afternoons, especially during unsettled weather. Streamer patterns presented under low light conditions will take over as best ways to encounter larger brown and rainbow trout. Crowds have diminished considerably, so the river between Ashton and Chester Dams is becoming a great fishing location.
