Main Stem Snake River

Streamer, balance leech, and wooly bugger patterns presented on sink tip lines are the best ways for action almost anywhere on the river. Midge activity is ongoing up and down the river, and their life cycle patterns produce action during wind free times.  The only USGS flow gage recording over 2000 cfs is the one at Menan. Flow there is 2110 cfs. Boat launch locations are open but boating in the river can be rough on hard-sided boats in places.  Walk- in locations are numerous.  Flow below American Falls dam is about 280 cfs.
