Small Streams
With warmer weather many of the small streams are shaping up for good fishing. Exceptions are those in the Teton and Little Lost River drainages which begin in high country. Another exception is the lower Blackfoot River below the dam is relatively high with irrigation water (about 600 cfs) making wading difficult. The river above the reservoir does not open to fishing until July first. Runoff is mostly gone from Robinson Creek and its famed series of hatches has begun with caddis and yellow sallys starting With more to come soon. Warm River has been in good fishing condition for months and continues to offer good top water action from mayfly and caddisfly activity. Idaho’s Salt River tributaries are also rounding into fishing shape. Birch Creek in the family fishing area and upstream springs remains the best location for great family fly fishing action in the area. West Camas Creek hosting brook trout and hatchery stocked rainbows is another small stream offering good family fishing action.
