Small Streams
Teton River is running very warm in the lower section and canyon. Fish these places early in the day anywhere to diminish catch and release stress onto salmonids. Early AM and evenings are best times to fish and to avoid recreational boating traffic. IDF&G’s statewide whitefish study is complete. Bitch Creek with its clear, cold waters offers good dry fly fishing which improves the further upstream you try it. Robinson Creek has been good fishing with traditional dry patterns and nymph patterns. Be careful navigating its steep canyon.
Warm River just below the springs is where caddis and PMDs prevail with terrestrial insects coming on. We cannot recommend the upper Blackfoot River for fishing. Even the USGS Idaho Water Conditions web site states that flow is extremely low and warm. Palisades Creek always has cool water because of contributions from Lower and Upper Palisades Lakes. Caddis life cycle, bead head nymph, and traditional dry patterns work well here.
