Small Streams

Fishing success on all small streams is diminishing a water drops to base level and overhead cover decreases. The Teton River in the basin still offers good top water fishing because of a good bankside terrestrial insect population, but decreasing daytime hours and cooler nights will soon effect the time these insects will be active.  AM spinner falls occur. PMD and caddis populations remain good enough to make afternoon fishing good on the river in the Basin. Palisades and Big Elk Creeks and Warm River offer very good fishing action because of bankside terrestrial insect population, afternoon caddis activity, and the beginning of BWO activity.  Best time to fish lower Fall River is during the evening caddis hatch.
