South Fork
Flow out of Palisades Dam has been reduced to 6500 cfs at Irwin downstream gages (about 6500 cfs, at Heise, 3930 cfs at Lorenzo) reflect this drop in flow. Palisades Reservoir is at 10% of capacity. Water quality in the river could not be better. Streamer fishing is the best way to encounter big fish, but mahogany duns are showing up in certain places while BWO activity peaks during our unsettled weather. Caddis activity is beginning to fade. Terrestrial insects will not be active until a warming sun kicks in. Look for more drops in flow as we move through October.
