South Fork
Palisades Reservoir is only 23% full. Expect only flow reductions for the rest of this fishing season. Flow out of Palisades Dam has been reduced today to about 8000 cfs as water storage is beginning. Flow gages at Heise and Lorenzo will reflect this drop in flow soon. PMDs are diminishing while pink alberts are more numerous. Caddis life cycle patterns are good for top water fishing during evenings. A few mutant golden stones are still around and mahogany duns will appear in significant numbers soon. Slower, deep waters are still best locations to try rubber leg and streamer patterns especially during periods of and areas with good overhead cover. Wading conditions will improve with reduced flows, and riffles will become more widespread. Remain careful wading in this strong, really cold water.
