South Fork
Windy weather prevails again and might last into the weekend. With respect to fly fishing wet patterns will be most effective. Consider presenting traditional nymph patterns through and below riffles during this warming weather. There are plenty of food items along stream bottoms to keep trout “well fed.” In addition to the fly patterns we have suggested (streamers, rubber legs, woolly buggers), add such as San Juan worm patterns drifted deep along stream bottoms.
Much of the Dry Bed is sheltered from wind. It is full of whitefish and hosts a good trout population. With a flow of about 100 cfs of clear water it is a good alternative to the wind-blown main river. Good midge hatches prevail here. Stay within the high water mark to be away from private property.
