South Fork

Flow out of Palisades Dam has been almost flat at about 12100 cfs for several days. The same with downstream gages (about 12200 cfs, at Heise, 5900 cfs at Lorenzo). Water quality could not be better. IDF&G’s statewide whitefish study is complete. The entire river offers excellent dry fly fishing. The big stoneflies are pretty much gone until next year, but don't hesitate to fish stonefly sized dries.  Slower, deep waters are best locations to try rubber leg and streamer patterns. Wade carefully!
