Southwestern Montana

Improving water is between Hebgen and Quake Lakes.  Big nymphs, wooly bugger types, and streamers are the name of the game.  Below in the boat –free water down to the West Fork, a few big stone flies are beginning to appear. Gallatin River is high and discolored. Midges are providing good fishing as well as do streamers on Hebgen Reservoir.  Bring your favorite pupa patterns to suspend under an indicator, find the taking depth in the shallows, and hits will come.
