Yellowstone Park
The best top water fishing in the Park is on Fall River Basin streams. PMDs, a remnant of green drakes, damsel flies, and evening brown drakes are bringing fish to the top making for excellent dry fly fishing.
Slough Creek is shaping up with decreased run-off and a few green drakes, sallies, PMDs and caddis are beginning to show. Because of warming water, the Park has closed fishing on the Firehole, Gibbon and Madison Rivers and their tribs after 2 PM each day to open on the following morning.
Fishing on the Yellowstone River above the falls is picking up with soft hackled patterns and may fly emerger patterns bringing results. Stone flies are out along the canyon reaches of the lower river, but wading is dangerous. Soda Butte Creek and the adjacent Lamar River being roadside are, becoming crowded with visiting fly fishers.
