Stonefly nymphs are among my favorite fly types to tie, and I've been focusing more on the simple effective stuff, but it's been a too long since I really tied a fancy stonefly nymph. The problem is that they are best fished low and slow, typically in a hole that has a bunch of fly eating snags, and I don't like donating flies to the river just because... That said, sometimes art takes over and art is made on a hook. This art, however, is a fish slayer! Check out how the body is formed and look at the critical first wraps of wire. Go drop this in your favorite deep hole and go smack em!
