Higa's Blue Angel
Spencer - February, 2026
TI began tying the Blue Angel back in my guiding days in eastern Utah. I needed a fly that could get down quickly in faster water while imitating the many nymphs we saw throughout the year. It is a general all-purpose pattern that doesn't imitate anything in particular, but its buggy profile and unique colors make it a consistent producer.I’ve always liked the color blue, so I incorporated it into this pattern without making it too "loud." The **Navy Blue body** and **Blue Pheasant Tail** provide just the right amount of contrast without being overly flashy. The **Sea Green wire** creates a pronounced segmentation that fish find irresistible, while the **Fl. Yellow Glo Bright** hotspot serves as a "trigger" for picky fish. Finally, coating the fly in resin adds significant durability and helps the fly sink fast into the strike zone.Whether you're fishing a river and aren't quite sure what's hatching, or you're dropping it under an indicator in a high mountain lake, the Blue Angel is a versatile addition to any fly box.
Key Features:
* Fast Sinking - Coated in resin to cut through the water column.
*Subtle Blue Profile - Uses Navy Blue and Blue Pheasant Tail for a natural but distinct look.
*High Visibility Hotspot - Fl. Yellow Glo Bright attracts attention in all water types.
*Durable Construction:- Built to withstand multiple fish.
