EEeryone needs a good go-to scud pattern in their box! Scuds can be a great food source for trout, and oftentimes they target naturals that are really really small. Because we want the proportions to be spot on, we have eliminated extra materials like scud back and wire that might make the fly too heavy. I’ve fished this style a lot in stillwaters and the fish whole heartedly agree that it looks good enough to eat. Feel free to make these in sowbug colors, or even with an orange egg sac in the middle.
