I have always liked to mess with custom dubbings, and as of late I have been playing with some leech blends that have great stillwater colors. They move great in the water, they are fairly easy to blend and they are great to tie with. There are 12 colors right now, and many more can be had with the full line of up these materials!
This fly is in the Thin Mint color that Friggin Brigham always badgers me about. We collaborated on this color and it was tested in the challenging waters in the UK (SEE VIDEO HERE) and let's just say that it made us very proud and proved to be a tasty snack for those educated trout. The short stout hook coupled with a slotted bead is a great option for a balanced fly, and it really does a great job at hooking fish and holding on!
