Purple Near Nuff Sculpin

Near Nuff is about as good as it gets when you are talking about fly patterns. If you have a fly that works "well-enough," you have a fly that has found a permanent spot in your box. Fish are simple creatures, and if a fly looks "near enough" they will probably eat it just as fast as they'll eat a realistic fly that took a hour to tie. Dave Whitlock; legendary fly tyer, fisher, and artist, came up with this fly to represent a sculpin that would work for trout, smallmouth, panfish, and even carp. It's definitely a successful pattern because it's been around for a long, long time! We made a couple slight tweaks to this fly with the TMC 708 hook and a dubbing loop head. These are most commonly found in olive and tan, but feel free to modify them to match the sculpins where you live.
