River Bugger: Thin Mint
Curtis Fry- April 2021

Mpromise this is the last Thin Mint fly color theme for a while. Or maybe not. But I tie these because they flat out work! Anyway, the "River Bugger" term is what I use to describe a sorta streamer/bugger hybrid with a lot of movement that capitalizes on the river currents and has enough weight to get down pretty fast, when needed. If you watch the fishing video below, you can see how effective this patterns was on a small hike-in stream. I usually tie these river buggers in thin mint, ginger and a darker brown or olive color mix and I fish them on floating lines for smaller rivers and streams but then I'll toss them with a Cold 25 sink tip on bigger rivers.
