Pretty anemic stuff...

The Hareline Ostrich Herl I received is pretty abyssmal - you may want to look at the Nature's Spirit stuff. One side is *far* shorter than the other and all of the herls are just puny. Additionally, the bag was bent in shipping and creased the heck out of them. No big deal in this case, but if it were a quality feather I'd be pretty annoyed to see it ruined in shipping for want of a piece of thin cardboard to keep it from bending over on itself inside the shipping bag. I would recommend trying the Nature's Spirit Ostrich Plumes. Barring a supply chain shortage, this will be the last Hareline Ostrich Herl I ever buy sight-unseen. Two stars because at least bugs didn't fly out when I opened the bag.

Better packing

Hurl was fine except for a crease in it. Other companies pack with cardboard to protect. Might want to consider.

Ostrich herl

I’ve never really used Ostrich herl in the past, but I’ve really come to enjoy it for micro buggers and jigs as well as on nymph bodies

Ostrich hurl

It works on the scuds I tie but the small fibers could be longer to build better legs. They do work well to build a tail on scuds though. I bought a green hurl a few years ago from another company that created nice legs on the scuds

It’s so Fluffy

This is my first time using ostrich herl and I love it. I’m tying up some Polly Rosebrough fuzzy nymphs that call for ostrich herl. Like my title says, it’s so fluffy.
