UTC tinsel is varnished so it will not tarnish. The gold and silver oval tinsel, which has an extra strong core, are available in large, medium, small, and extra-small. This is a great choice for tinsel ribs, especially on classic salmon and steelhead flies.

UTC French Tinsel Oval

Subtle colors are good but it's much thinner than appears in the photo on the web page. Breaks very easily. Had to double it up to wrap a small streamer.

Exactly what I needed!

The oval tinsel worked perfectly for the Atlantic salmon flies I tied for my friend in New Brunswick!
