Essential tool to tie fly line and tapered leader.
Splice the tapered leader to the fly line, then use pipe included to create nail knot with small bundle to avoid entangled with top guide.
When drawing a line from the top guide or hauling in a fish, it becomes much comfortable just by eliminating the interference with the guide by minimizing the bundle.
Small magnet on the tip of nail knot pipe is convinience for picking up small flies from compartment box, It also can be used to temporary hold flies when switching flies.

●Be careful not to warp the needle when splicing the tapered leader to the fly line core. It will lead to needle breakage and damage.
●If the nail knot pipe is crushed, it may not be possible to store the splice needle.
●After use, push the nail knot pipe to the root of the splice needle, and be careful not to lose it by dropping it.

I enjoy all CnF tools and this is no exception. The needle is well made and strong. The only minus is that the taper could be a bit more gradual. This would make dilating the fly line easier. As long as you hit it from both sides multiple times it’s fine. I used mine to tie a snell knot which I find easier to the nail knot. The needle makes a fantastic brace for the fly line.

Love this tool

I own several of these. I have one in my vest along with an extra leader. I have one in my fishing tool box. I have spare ones in my fly tying room at home. I use it to attach fly line to backing and leader to fly line.

The best nail knot tool of them all!

In my group of obsessed maniacs.....er.....I mean anglers, I am the rigger. I pre-tie the leaders, make gob loads of alternating color Amnesia sighter rigs, and of course many nail knot. Of all the different tools, gadgets, and gizmos to facilitate a perfect nail knot, this tool is the best by far. The combination of the threaded needle and enclosing tube give you exactly what is needed without any wing dings yo get muddled while your fingers are cramping keeping the knot's wraps perfect. I'm so glad you are back with C&F.
