Micro Synthetic Herl

As Avian flu is taking an ever-serious grip, we have developed this product in an attempt to replicate the naturally occurring herls. The herls are extremely fine in diameter and are available in a standard form, Peacock and some metallic type variations. The herls are available in a series of natural non fluorescent colors, but upon release there was an immediate call for some hot spot versions, and these are now available in a few fluorescent colors. The introduction of the standard form at the recent BFFI was well received by the tiers and quickly sold out.

As not all the additions are suitable to all colors, the color range varies depending upon the additive.

These herls respond well to tension and it is relatively easy to achieve that nymph silhouette by initially tying under tension and releasing the tension as you wrap the body.

There are some obvious benefits of tying with Synthetic herls as they are not restricted by length and also remove the frustration of snapping at the critical moment and are more robust and resistant to those sharp teeth, thus extending the life of your fly.
