I ordered the wool to try my hand at tying the wings on Cheech's Green Drake pattern. I have been using Hareline Sculpin wool for many years. Great stuff for Sculpin patterns..I just didn't have any light colors in my wool collection that I could use for wings. My local fly shop doen't carry it any more. I told them that I was using it for mayfly wings. The said that it would sink.
I said no, you put floatant on the wing after you tie it. I don't have any FlyAgra floatant, but I will give the stuff from Loon a try. However; FlyAgra does have a certain something to its name that would make you think it would float longer.
I also bought the Smhaen thread splitter, thanks for the tutorial. It is so much easier to use than a dubbing needle like the Scandinavian tyers do. I also appreciate the Hareline material clamps in various sizes and their feather prepper that I got from your shop recently. Who knew that CDC feathers could be so versatile and be fun to tie with.
I enjoy your tutorials immensely. I have been tying for 60 years and always enjoy new ideas. Keep up the good work.

Sculpin wool

After watching the vid "Project Sculpin 1.0" I decided I'd like to have a few. So I ordered some sculpin wool. The only thing I have to say is that the "rusty brown" doesn't "look" like rusty brown.
Until you pull it apart. As a clump, it kinda looks like scarlet red. Overall, I'm happy with all of the colors and I'm now the proud owner of several color combinations.
Keep making those vids. If nothing else, they're usually good for a giggle or two.
